I work for a company that changed their dress code policy to include a mandatory masking policy.
I invoked my right to a religious accommodation under Title VII.
I sent 3 registered letters and received no response. After the fourth I finally had a brief meeting with HR. I was offered a demotion with a pay decrease outside the store to segregate me from customer contact. I was offered a change in shifts to limit my exposure to people or I could refuse to comply and be disciplined for failure to comply and possible termination. I stated that I would temporarily comply till legal reviewed my request. Months went by with no reply. The mask requirement went away. I renewed my request for accommodation just in case the monkey business started again. I had a meeting with the new head of HR and asked to review my request and asked for the names of those reviewing my request so I could address them with any questions I may have regarding their decision. I have received no response in two months now. Michigan Statute of limitations is 3 years to file. I am approaching 2 years. I believe the company is stalling. Should I file to force the company to come to the table and get my accommodation request on record for the future if the company changes its policy again?
